Goals & Highlights
Match Summary
Manchester City won their tenth game in 11 Premier League meetings against Wolverhampton Wanderers with a 4-0 victory at Molineux in their first match of the season.
The game started slowly, and the first chance went to Erling Haaland, who tried to head the ball but missed it, sending it over the bar.
Wolves then created a chance when Marshall Munetsi headed the ball in, but he was offside. City quickly took control and scored two goals against the run of play. Haaland opened the scoring by tapping in a low cross from Rico Lewis. Tijjani Reijnders then added a second goal with a smooth first-time finish into the bottom corner after a pass from Oscar Bobb. This was a good sign for City, as Reijnders scored in 10 out of 13 games for AC Milan last season.
Wolves fought back well in the second half, as Jørgen Strand Larsen hit the side-netting and forced James Trafford to make a save.
But City sealed the game just after the hour mark when Haaland scored his 10th Premier League goal against Wolves, more than any other opponent. Late on, another new signing, Rayan Cherki, scored a neat finish into the bottom corner, completing a dominant performance.
Wolves' loss continues their poor form in August, as they have only won once in 21 league matches this month.
Meanwhile, City's strong win puts them at the top of the league table early in the season.
