Goals & Highlights

Match Summary

Paris Saint-Germain pulled off an incredible come-from-behind performance, overcoming a two-goal deficit to defeat Tottenham Hotspur in a penalty shootout and claim the UEFA Super Cup (USC). This victory marked their fifth trophy of 2025.

Tottenham had a chance to become just the second Europa League champions to win the USC since 2012, but they struggled from the start.
In the first minute, Pedro Porro fired a weak shot that missed the target. Six minutes later, PSG showed their quality, but an elaborate team move ended in a poor shot from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia that went wide.

Midway through the first half, Richarlison won the ball in midfield and raced forward, linking up with Mohamed Kudus before firing a powerful first-time shot that new PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier pushed over the bar.

Kudus then had a chance, but a brilliant block from Marquinhos denied him.
Just seven minutes before halftime, the underdogs took the lead. Cristian Romero headed Guglielmo Vicario’s free-kick into the penalty area, where João Palhinha came out of the crowd to hit the ball toward goal. Chevalier made a great save, but couldn’t stop Micky van de Ven from scoring the rebound.

Spurs had another chance for a second goal when Kudus tackled Richarlison’s header, but his effort hit the post.

Luis Enrique’s halftime instructions didn’t resolve a key problem.
Just two minutes into the second half, another Spurs free-kick found Romero at the back post. This time, he headed the ball past the diving Chevalier for a 2-0 lead. The match remained one-sided, with Porro and Kevin Danso both firing shots wide of the post.

With 25 minutes left in the game, PSG finally got a shot on goal thanks to Désiré Doué, who struck the post with a powerful shot. Fabián Ruiz then grabbed the rebound and passed it to Bradley Barcola, who fired the ball into the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside. This led to a long spell of pressure from PSG, which didn’t bear fruit until five minutes remained, when Lee Kang-in fired a precise shot from the edge of the box to give PSG the lead. In the final moments of added time, PSG’s constant attacks finally paid off as Ousmane Dembélé’s cross was headed into the net by Gonçalo Ramos.

The match went to a penalty shootout, where Tottenham took an early lead when Vitinha missed PSG’s first penalty.
However, PSG came back to level after both teams scored three penalties each, with Van de Ven being stopped by Chevalier. Things turned worse for Tottenham when Mathys Tel missed his spot-kick, allowing Nuno Mendes to score the winning penalty and making PSG the first French team to win the USC.
